Adoption Process

At People for Pets, our goal is to match every animal with a safe, loving, and lasting home. Our adoption process is designed to ensure the best fit for both the potential adopter and the animal.

  • 1. Browse Available Animals

    Start by viewing our available dogs and cats on our website or on the Petfinder app. Each animal has their own unique personality, and we are happy to help you find a good match for your home and lifestyle. 

  • 2.Submit an Application

    Once you find an animal you’re interested in, complete an adoption application through our website. This helps us learn more about you, your household, and what you’re looking for in a pet. 

  • 3. Application Review

    Our team carefully reviews each application. We will contact your veterinarian and personal references as part of this process. 

  • 4. Meet & Greet

    Approved applicants will be contacted and an appointment will be set up to meet the animal. This time can be set outside of our open hours. The potential adopter can also meet any dog they want, not just the one they applied for. We strive for finding the best match for you.

  • 5. Take Your New Pet Home

    Necessary adoption paperwork will be signed, and then you’re ready to bring your new family member home! Our team is always available for support and questions, even after adoption.
